Ray Lane – Blindley Heath
This garden has the most wonderful rural setting, with views of the open fields beyond. However the front garden lacked any sense of arrival and needed a re-think. The clients had recently built a teen hangout garden room, plus the old garage and existing greenhouse added to a lack of cohesion.
Firstly we planned for space to enter, turn and park whilst charging, plus guest parking which was gently screened with hedging. Next we created foundation beds in front of all of the buildings and added evergreen balls (Pittosporum) to create a sense of unity, adding some climbing roses to scramble over the old garage and planting in front of the old greenhouse.
A large central bed was created, with a multi-stem tree and tall grasses to bring some drama and a wildlife pond to the rear. Behind all of this we built raised veg beds (irrigated of course) and space for the chicken coops, all gently screened.
Check out the drone shots vs the layout design!
