Norfolk Avenue I – Sanderstead

This long garden slopes up away from the house, with a significant level change between the house and the top end – so we had to consider how to work with the existing levels, whilst creating some interesting zones for the family to enjoy.

We firstly widened the patio at the house level, building a new retaining wall, and incorporating a floating bench for the dining table and a small outdoor kitchen area.

Hoping to avoid further (expensive) retaining walls where possible, we created a bank between the next two level areas – the formal lawn and the sunbathing/firepit area.
The bank is planted with colourful perennials and multi stem trees which provide gentle screening during the day and some serious wow factor when uplit at night.

A garden room / office is planned for the top of the garden, and the journey up through the garden through the various levels is now colourful, neat and fun!
